MaltaPost’s Philatelic Bureau will be issuing a set of four stamps on Wednesday 16th September 2009 portraying typical scenes from the Maltese landscape entitled Scenery.The 2009 "Scenery" collection is the second issue of a series following the first which was issued in October 2007.

The stamps portray four spectacular scenes which are: The powerful rough seas at Qbajjar Gozo, the Gnejna watchtower built by the Knights of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta, the salt pans at Qbajjar Gozo and a view of the Ggantija Temples in Gozo. The stamps carry a face value of Euro 0.02, Euro 0.07, Euro 0.37 and Euro 1.02 respectively. The stamps have been designed by Stefan Attard and are 44.0 mm by 31.0 mm in size with a perforation of 13.9 x 14.0 (comb). All stamps have been offset printed on Maltese Crosses watermarked paper by Printex Limited and are available in sheets of 10.

The Euro 0.37 stamp depicting the Qbajjar salt pans will form part of a joint stamp issue in the SEPAC Collection (Small European Postal Administrations Cooperation) named "Beautiful Corners of Europe 2, the common theme chosen for this year is ‘Scenery’. The SEPAC collection will include a special folder containing the 12 SEPAC stamps issued this year from each member postal administration. The SEPAC issues are aimed to highlight member countries and promote philately. SEPAC members are the postal administrations of Aland Islands, Faroe Islands, Greenland, Guernsey, Iceland, Isle of Man, Jersey, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Malta, Monaco, San Marino, and the Gibraltar Philatelic Bureau.

The "Scenery" Set will be on sale from Wednesday 16th September 2009.
