Post Denmark is to install a further 40 new parcel/letter vending machines (known as Døgnposten) across the country to provide a more 24 hour collection and despatch points. There are already 68 in operation since Post Denmark introduced them in 2008.
Post Denmark is to begin the installation of the new machines on the 19th October and expects that the first will be operational by early November, ready for the Christmas period.
The company said that customers appreciated the flexibility of the service and that 40,000 Danes had already registered to use the machines.
Once registered, Danish postal customers get an sms or e-mail when there has been a delivery and the item can be collected from the designated machine within seven days.
Post Danmark delivers to 2.6m households and 280,000 businesses.
