Strike Will Hurt Customers Says Royal Mail

The Royal Mail has again urged postal workers to call off a strike planned in London and Scotland tomorrow.
"We urge the CWU to call off its planned strike action tomorrow in parts of London and Scotland and to fully honour - as we have done - existing modernisation agreements signed by the union leadership in the presence of the TUC in 2007 and which has led to the successful introduction of new ways of working in units across the UK." it said.
"All the union will achieve by strike action is to hurt customers and undermine our drive to build a successful future for this business and its people.
"It is worth noting that the three largest offices in London have not been called out on strike by the union - the Mount Pleasant and South London mail centres, and the West End delivery office off Oxford Street - and we expect collection, sorting and delivery of mail across of a wide area of central London to be undertaken tomorrow, while we will be doing eveything possible to provide services in those areas where the union is planning strikes with management volunteers making as many deliveries as possible, and postboxes remaining open with collections taking place."
Post Office and Parcelforce Worldwide services are unaffected.
