Building a 21st-century post office is not easy. It requires vision, reliability and a solid partnership to deliver long-term success. Escher Group recently completed such a project with one of its long-standing customers, CTT Correios de Portugal.

CTT Correios challenged Escher with a vision that was clear, simple, and innovative: deliver a 24-hour post office service open every day of the year, which would provide the services traditionally found at the Counter, but in self-service mode that required minimal maintenance and at the same time, provided integrated transaction consolidation.

Using Escher’s RiposteKiosk software, designed to handle diverse transaction types and peripherals, CTT Correios built the complete self-service environment.

With RiposteKiosk, it was uniquely possible to have a single kiosk that could provide everything from Mail services, through pricing, label printing, bill payment and financial services, and manage the post office box. The final step in the self service was for retail products, where RiposteKiosk facilitated the selling of items through a vending kiosk or through a standard retail self checkout – basically like a supermarket for retail products. This allows customers to purchase goods from CTT’s extensive catalogue of innovative products.

The outcome? An exciting and cutting edge self-service centre adjacent to CTT Correios’ headquarters in Parque das Naçoes, Lisbon – now open to the public. This unique deployment of RiposteKiosk is testament to the innovative and creative retail solutions that CTT Portugal is bringing to today’s marketplace, as well as the durability of RiposteKiosk and its capabilities.
